Indian brands at EICMA 2022: What to expect from Ola Electric and Royal Enfield

One of the world’s largest motorcycle shows EICMA 2022 to set to kick off in Italy tomorrow, i.e. 8th November. While Royal Enfield has been a participant at the event for some time now, a new brand from India will be present at the show this year, Ola Electric. EICMA serves as a platform for international manufacturers to unveil and showcase their products, for example, Royal Enfield first took the wraps off its SG650 Concept at this very motor show. Here’s a look at what the names from India will showcase at the event this year.
Royal Enfield
The biggest highlight for these unveils will be the upcoming Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 which has been spotted testing a number of times. The Chennai-based manufacturer has been releasing teaser images for the same. The Super Meteor 650 will be the third motorcycle to get Royal Enfield’s 648cc parallel twin engine with 47 hp and 52 Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed transmission.

This is the same engine that powers the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. The Super Meteor 650, like the Meteor 350, will be a cruiser with forward set footrests. It is yet to be seen if RE will have tuned the engine to better suit the characteristics of a cruiser. The bike is expected to come with upgraded equipment like upside-down forks.
While the current pricing for the 650 twin starts at Rs 2.88 lakh (ex-showroom) for Interceptor 650. Expect the new and upcoming Super Meteor 650 to carry a larger price tag of Rs 3-3.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The bike will be showcased at the 2022 Rider Mania motorcycle festival in Goa on 18 November.

Ola Electric
This will be the first time Ola Electric will take part in an international motor show. While the company recently announced the launch of a more affordable S1 Air electric scooter in India, expect it to showcase its entire lineup at Milan, Italy. Ola has always iterated that India will be the global production hub for its electric scooters with the models being built and exported from the future factory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu. The company is eyeing developed and emerging markets to expand sales including Latin America, ASEAN, and Europe. It will be interesting to see if Ola Electric has any new announcements to make at EICMA.
Last year’s EICMA also saw participation from TVS Eurogrip when the brand showcased its product portfolio. The company displayed its latest line-up of products, under the cooperation between the R&D centres located in Madurai, India and Milan, Italy, and manufactured for European, Asian and Indian markets.
